Natalie Astorga
Master of Microbial Biotechnology Graduate Student
A little bit about me...
Hi, My name is Natalie Astorga and I am a first-year student in the Master of Microbial Biotechnology program at North Carolina State University. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Biology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2023. Previously, I worked in various healthcare positions such as nurse aid, and clinical laboratory assistant, but also volunteered in other positions. I became interested in Biotechnology while completing an undergraduate introduction course. I selected this course because I believed it would be an interesting course to complete. During the course, I essentially learned how complex and valuable biotechnology is. My role as a clinical laboratory assistant at Atrium Health University City also influenced my decision to join the MMB program heavily as I was able to understand my favorness for Microbiology.

Other interests of mine outside of academics are cooking cultural dishes, staying active, and loving on my adorable puppy lulu!
Career Objectives
My love for science began at a very young age and with it came my desire to pursue science as a career. Discovering the incredible potential of biotechnology within science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has inspired me to join the MMB program. My enrollment was fueled by my curiosity to gain expertise in science and also learn about business. Ultimately I am excited to contribute to modern technology and someday provide a solution to those problems myself. Currently, I am exploring the possibility of pursuing an MBA post-graduation from the MMB program. I am very excited to see where this program takes me and hope to eventually work in the Pharmaceutical field.
